What's needed to begin using GroovePacker with Ecomdash?
The first step is to import your product data into GroovePacker. Ecomdash has a product export which will allow you to export your data to a CSV file. The only required fields in GroovePacker are the Product Name, SKU and Barcode but it's also possible to import bin locations, inventory counts, weight and product images.
If you have multiple SKUs that refrence the same physical product they can be aliased at this point so inventory is correctly tracked. Lastly, if you use kits or bundles they can now be setup in GroovePacker or imported via CSV.
With products ready to go and the proper configuration in Ecomdash you can now import your daily orders for packing verification with just a click.
Scan and Pack Workflow with GroovePacker
There's no reason to change how you currently print your shipping labels. GroovePacker can work with Ecomdash to accommodate a variety of workflows.
Your workflow will depend on when in the process shipping labels are printed, before or after packing. Once orders have been imported into GroovePacker you simply enter the order number of any order you'd like to pack. Ecomdash will provide an option to print your order number on each packing slip as a barcode. GroovePacker can then read a scan of the order number to display the order and items to be packed. This means your packers can divide orders into multiple batches and scan them in any order they like. It's also possible to incorporate a digital scale and ship by exact weight. In this scenario you'll print shipping labels individually after packing and weighing the packed shipments for exact package weights.
After printing your packer or dedicated picker can begin picking all the items required to pack that batch of orders. Often a cart is used to gather all items. After the items have been picked and your packers are ready to begin packing orders, they'll just scan the order number from any packing slip and GroovePacker will suggest the first item to be scanned and packed. When the correct product is scanned the packer will get confirmation and will be prompted for the next item. The process continues until all items have been scanned and packed.
Once scanning and packing is complete the status for the order is updated and inventory counts are adjusted. A record of each item scanned and the packer who scanned it is saved in GroovePacker, ready to be called up with the scan of an order number. Because GroovePacker scans items into and out of your warehouse you have true item-level visibility of your physical inventory.
