What's needed to begin using GroovePacker with ShippingEasy?

The first step is to import your product data into GroovePacker. We have a flexible mapping system so in many cases your file can be imported without modification. The only required fields are the Product Name, SKU and Barcode but it's also possible to import bin locations, inventory counts, weight and product images. Because your mapping preferences are saved it only takes seconds to bulk update or import new products in the future.

Next, an API key provided in your ShippingEasy account will be saved in GroovePacker. Once this is done the daily orders can be imported with one click and they will be ready for Scan and Pack. If you've not created a ShippingEasy account yet you can visit their page here and set one up.

Scan and Pack Workflow with GroovePacker

There's no reason to change how you currently print your shipping labels. GroovePacker can work with ShippingEasy to accommodate a variety of workflows.

Your workflow will vary a little depending on when you print your shipping labels, before or after packing but in all cases you start in Shipping Easy and decide which orders will be shipping for the day. Orders can be combined, edited or held at this point. When you have a list of the daily orders you'll print your packing slips and a pick list. The shipping labels may be created now in a batch or you can print them individually after packing and weighing the packed shipments. This post packing workflow allows you to incorporate a digital scale and calculate postage by exact weight.

At this point you'll click a button in GroovePacker to import your finished list of daily orders from ShippingEasy and your packer or dedicated picker can begin picking all the items required to pack their orders. Often a cart is used to gather all items. By sorting your pick list by location you'll eliminate backtracking during the picking process.

After the items have been picked and your packers are ready to begin packing orders, they'll just scan the order number from any packing slip (ShippingEasy makes it easy to add your order number barcode on each packing slip) and GroovePacker will suggest the first item to be scanned and packed. When the correct product is scanned the packer will get auditory and visual confirmation and be prompted for the next item. A buzzer and error message will be given for any wrong items. The process continues until all items have been scanned and packed correctly. When packing is complete the packer will be prompted to scan another packing slip and continue packing the next order, or, if shipping labels are printed after packing the package, it would be weighed and the shipping label generated in ShippingEasy. If the shipping label is created by the same user that packs the order the Popup and Print feature can be used to automatically display the order in ShippingEasy, otherwise the order number barcode on the packing slip can be used at another station to display the order in ShippingEasy. Once the label is adhered to the package the packer would resume packing the next shipment.

Once scanning and packing is complete the status for the order is updated and inventory counts are adjusted. A record of each item scanned and the packer who scanned it is saved in GroovePacker, ready to be called up with the scan of an order number. Because GroovePacker can be used to scan items into and out of your warehouse you have true item-level visibility of your physical inventory and because GroovePacker is cloud based, like ShippingEasy, it's possible for substitutions, cancellations or other exceptions to be made from any location allowing customer service assistance by virtual assistant's and remote employees.
