In mere moments, you can connect GroovePacker to Shippo simply by inputting your API information. Once connected, orders can effortlessly be imported for scanning, speeding up your overall processing times. Plus, if you find yourself in need of specific details such as bin locations or product instructions, they can quickly be added through GroovePacker’s ability to import product data from CSV files.

 If all needed product data is present in Shippo you can let GroovePacker automatically import products while orders are imported.  If you need to have your products imported before you receive orders for them, so you can generate barcodes and print product barcode labels from GroovePacker, product data can be imported by creating a mock order in Shippo and importing it. GroovePacker only requires a product name, SKU and Barcode (registered UPC or internal barcode), in order to provide barcode scanning verification. If you require data like bin locations that’s not available from Shippo, a CSV file can be used to quickly add the products or just the data that’s missing. 

Shippo / GroovePacker Workflow

There’s no reason to change how you currently print your shipping labels. GroovePacker can work with Shippo to accommodate a variety of workflows.

The workflow will vary slightly depending on where and when you print. If you currently print your order number on your packing slip as a barcode GroovePacker can use a scan of the order number to display the order to be packed. GroovePacker can also generate packing slips with order number barcodes for this purpose. Printing a barcoded packing slip allows your packers to split orders up into batches and scan them in any sequence they like. Some fulfillment operations incorporate a digital scale and ship by exact weight. In this workflow scanning is done first, then shipping labels are printed individually after weighing the packed shipments for exact package weights. 

If your items and shipping methods allow you to predict the postage for each package before packing it you’ll be able to generate shipping labels in batches. This tends to be the most efficient workflow when it’s possible. GroovePacker can import your tracking numbers from Shippo and the Shipping Label can be scanned to cue and display the order for scanning verification. 

Order Scanning

 Guiding the user through the scanning of each orders is the heart of what we do. Because this operation is done so many times throughout the day every moment that can be saved makes a huge impact on fulfillment efficiency. We have been obsessed with removing friction from the scanning process for years and the result is a fast and fluid system that your team will truly enjoy using day after day.

When an order is cued, either using an order number barcode, a shipping label or the “Quick Scan” button, GroovePacker will suggest the first item to be scanned and packed. When the correct product is scanned the packer will get confirmation and will be prompted for the next item. By default items are suggested based on their warehouse location but they can be scanned in any sequence. Incorrect scans trigger a buzzer sound and a large red X flashes across the screen ensuring that no mistake goes un-noticed. The operation is designed to be fool proof, so even if the attention of the user had drifted they will not be able to accidentially complete an order with the incorrect items or the incorrect quantity of items.  The order scanning process continues until all items have been scanned and packed. In cases where orders have been imported to GroovePacker with tracking information an optional scan of the shipping label can be requested to verify that the correct label is being applied to the shipment.

Once scanning and packing is complete the status for the order it’s marked as scanned and inventory counts are adjusted in GroovePacker. A record of each item scanned and the packer who scanned it is saved in GroovePacker, ready to be called up with the scan of an order number. Because GroovePacker scans items into and out of your warehouse you have true item-level visibility of your physical inventory. Substitutions, cancellations or other exceptions can be made within GroovePacker. Each inventory change is made automatically as items are shipped and received, giving you an inventory count you can depend on.
