WHAT’S NEEDED TO BEGIN USING GROOVEPACKER WITH SPS COMMERCE?
The initial step is importing your product data into GroovePacker. SPS Commerce offers a product export feature, allowing you to export your data to a CSV file. The only mandatory fields in GroovePacker are the Product Name, SKU, and Barcode. However, importing bin locations, inventory counts, weight, and product images is also possible.
If you have multiple SKUs referencing the same physical product, they can be aliased at this juncture to ensure accurate inventory tracking. If you employ kits or bundles, these can be set up in GroovePacker or imported via CSV.
With products in place and the proper configuration in SPS Commerce, you can now effortlessly import your daily orders for packing verification.
SCAN AND PACK WORKFLOW WITH GROOVEPACKER
There’s no need to alter how you currently print your shipping labels. GroovePacker can collaborate with SPS Commerce to support various workflows.
Your specific workflow will be determined by when shipping labels are printed, either before or after packing. After orders are imported into GroovePacker, you merely enter the order number for any order you wish to pack. SPS Commerce provides an option to print your order number on each packing slip as a barcode. GroovePacker can then use a scan of this order number to display the order and items for packing. This setup allows packers to divide orders into batches and scan them in any preferred order. Incorporating a digital scale to ship by exact weight is also feasible. In this setup, shipping labels are printed individually post-packing, following the weighing of packed shipments.
Post printing, your packer or designated picker can start gathering all the required items for that batch of orders. A cart is often employed to accumulate all items. Once items are picked and packers are set to start packing orders, they just scan the order number from any packing slip, and GroovePacker will suggest the initial item to be scanned and packed. Upon scanning the correct product, the packer receives confirmation and is prompted for the subsequent item. This process continues until all items have been scanned and packed.
When the scanning and packing are finalized, the order status updates, and inventory counts adjust accordingly. A record of each scanned item, alongside the packer responsible, is preserved in GroovePacker, accessible with an order number scan. Since GroovePacker records items moving into and out of your warehouse, you achieve true item-level visibility of your physical inventory.
